I've been working since I was seventeen. I trained as a photo-lab technician ( color and black-and-white prints ) back when an image meant chemistry, patience, and a room with the lights off.

Then came five years in the press, making pictures in conflict zones. That kind of thing stays with you. Little by little I moved toward film sets, where light is something you build rather than something you duck. I learned to grade on DaVinci, and later took the cinematographer's course at ENS Louis-Lumière.

The truth is I've been hooked on computers since I was a kid the type who was subscribed to hacking magazines, then haunting the forums, back in the early days of home computers, when it felt like anything was possible. That curiosity never left. So when a tool I needed didn't exist, or cost more than I had, building it myself just felt like the natural thing to do.

That's more or less what I do now: chase a certain feeling in an image, in software and in hardware, and try not to take myself too seriously along the way.
